Recapping –
Got my 401k comp check from my last gig – That worked out well. I told a little fib to BHk, and said that I expected about $500, and we got about eight times that amount. (I was planning for about six times.)
Went to Annapolis and promptly deposited that little windfall in the bank – then stopped off at the Amish Farmer’s Market for breakfast. BHK and I split two – ate half and then swapped Chocolate Chip Pancakes, home fries, cheddar cheese omelet, wheat toast – I let BHK eat up all of the bacon, of course.
Opted out of going to a movie – nothing we want to see just this moment.. maybe next week when it’s less crowded. We did get a few other goodies at the farmer’s market – cheese, strawberries, trinket’s for our 4’th of July cake (gummy stars and confetti sprinkles), a blueberry fritter for me for tomorrow’s breakfast (or tonight’s midnight snack)
BHK remembered that I was due for shots (skipped when em was here) and we went there for a bit. Adam called, and mentioned that he was coming down for the 3rd’s fireworks, an was bringing Anna – so, it was a quick trip to the grocery to be sure he had a full belly.
I was feeling pretty out of it at that point, so I rested in the car. Going to nap now that we’re home. sweet dreams, dear journal.

Nice day today – went to Annapolis with Larry, Chris and BHK – went to see Jerry Douglas and toured St. Anne’s Church graveyard.

Book fair in Annapolis – taking it slow and easy though. Yard sale, and sat in on a panel of writers. Saw the Wayne Alan – writer of Magical Meatless Meals. More in-depth reviews to follow.
Scholastic was there – lots of flashbacks to the days when filling out a little strip of paper and ordering books through school came back.
Book fair was at the Keys school private education pre-k – 12- the mascot is the obezegs (Gazebo backwards)

Cable guy came by this morning to evaluate our Internet – he replaced the line from the pole to our house, and the box on the pole – looks better, but they’re sending out another truck on Monday to evaluate some more. I’m just glad it’s not an "inside the house" issue. I suspect with so many folks using Verizon around here, we may be the only Comcast people using that particular line. (side edit, spellchecker wanted to change "Comcast" to "compost". I feel the same way. )
While waiting for the cable guy, BHK tuned in to Twilight and I watched it with her. It was about what I expected. The lead characters didn’t do much for me – I saw no "sizzle" and they weren’t particularly attractive. There was certainly a powerful Mary Sue vibe going on. I’d say I liked the wolf tribe folks most of the lot of ’em, and I think BHK liked the little emo-haircut news-kid.
After the pole-climber was done, we headed out for the day – First got my shots in record time – (BHK and Kendall’s Mom chatted, so it seemed more quickly that I thought) – Instead of our usual walk around town, I thought it’d be nice to take BHK to Annapolis and just hoof it there for a bit.
Did a lot of window shopping and people-watching. Rather than getting lunch, we just sort of nibbled at the assorted stops along the way. Split a bagel here, a cookie there, a coffee somewhere else.
Stopped off at third eye comics – picked up vol 1 of Planetary and the Essential Dr. Strange . (BHK grabbed The New York Four – being an NYU grad and all) They guys at Third Eye are always willing to lend a hand, and can recommend stuff that they think I’ll like – so far, so good! I’m not a huge Warren Ellis fan, but planetary has a lot of good stuff in it – and I’ve always dug Dr. Strange.
Passed by an estate sale – lots of nifty antiques – I think it gave BHK the idea to do a distressed dresser in the bedroom.
K-mart of the walking dead – Got some solar-charged tiki lights for the porch walkway. The employees and customers were more than a little frightening – red-eyed and many doing the thorozine shuffle. Contemplated lawn furniture for spring, and decided against it, as it was too rickety for me to be sitting on for any extended period.
Visited the local hardware store to look for a bracket to hang the bell from my dad’s boat up – may return there next week.
Paused at a school yard sale (raising money for the band to go to Canada) – we got some baked goods – a crazy-colored cupcake (see below), and a brownie… BHK also snagged a hot dog, and bought her mom some orange glasses – perfect for a margarita sometime. I obtained another webcam – this one was only $1 after BHK haggled it down from $2. We’ll see if it works later this month. Also seen below are the ATW man playing ping pong, a found travel bug (trailer on the bio lab at the same yard sale) and an advertisement that stopped BHK in her tracks. PUPPIES IN BABY CRIBS.
BHK loved the Puggle , but I was a bigger fan of the Brussels Griffon not as cute, but it had a fantastic and playful personality – a little "tough guy". It’s a good thing I’m still very allergic to the critters, or something probably would’ve come home with us.

The in-laws met with us later on, and we did supper at Adam’s Ribs – a onion loaf was bit greasy, but the veggies were good, and the service excellent.
Finished up Twilight when we got home… a lovely full day.

Back to Work after the snow day – Busy day scoping out the parameter. BHK isn’t feeling very well today, tummy issues, so a light dinner all around.

Made tentative plans to get my Maryland drivers license next Saturday, as they’re open from 830 to noon, and I don’t need to get my allergy shots.
Following Saturday will be allergy shots, BHK teeth cleaning and my Crown checked. I still think that there’s an infection there.
It was cold today mid 20’s, but felt cooler, probably due to the bitter wind. Gray, overcast, but no rain or snow… just overcast. I am thankful for my gloves and neck gaiter today… I think I heard my shadow crack when I stepped on it on the way home. All standing water (puddle-sized or less, anyhow) was covered with ice.
Watched Superstars of Dance tonight – A more cynical person might say that a more stereotypical collection of nationalities could not be found outside of a minstrel show. I was entertained, mostly by the Mr. Checkov-esque Russian Judge, who talked about Russian president and Russian drinking etc, etc. Yakov Smirnoff would blush.
BHK is to be commended for not killing me during my snarky commentary, filled with terrible Russian, Irish, and Australian accents.

Learned a little bit about Rescue Ink – tough guys helping out animals.
This morning we headed over to the first day of the Annapolis Winter farmer’s market – not a lot of vendors yet, but I’m guessing it’ll grow. We picked up some turnips, soap, coffee for cheap and a localvore mag for free of note was the spiffy alpaca stuff.
On the way home, we swung by 3rd eye comics and I caught up on my ambush bug – also got the Munchkin Quest boardgame & an Obama comic for BHK.
Visited Best Buy to peek at the eee netbooks, and the acer one – maybe a goodie for us later on this year (not purchasing at BB, though – online has better deals). $200 for a laptop with internet isn’t too shabby.
After that we came home – watched die monster die (boris karloff flick loosely based on "the colour out of space"), the soup, mr meaty, and corpse bride, sanctuary… tried to soak up as much rest as we could, but I still ending up pooped, so I took apart train set under the Christmas Tree, and now we’re tucking in to bed.

Today I spent most of the day inside – cold out there, and my back is tricking up. I’m glad tomorrow is physical therapy! BHK and the inlaws did some yardwork in the chill while I did repairs in the heat, with the kitties inside.
Speaking of the kitties, I dreamt that we were in the green truck, returning form taking Newton and Pye somewhere – I had just off-loaded Newt in the house, when the truck drove off – Someone had made off with the vehicle and Pye! … it made it about a block and a half before BHK and I caught up with it – turned out that Pye was driving, a la Toonces. I was dumbfounded, but BHK just snatched him up and brought him inside the house, scolding him fiercely. I remember looking at the cabin of the truck, and trying to muddle out how he accomplished it – BHK was more interested in telling him "NO! BAD KITTY! You’re too young to drive!"(and this is true, as he is only 4.)

I spent some time fixing BHK’s laptop – the boot volume was toasted somehow. Fortunately, it was just a job for chkdsk /r and a little patience for the cleanup.
After the folks left, bhk made a mighty salad – garbonzos, spinache, cabbage, and whatever other good things in the house (pumpkin seeds and meatless baco-things on mine!), served with some beans and rice for bulk. It felt really good.

After allergy shots (and a chit-chat with Kendall’s Mom) BHK and I went to Gina’s Cantina for lunch and took an extended walk around annapolis today – despite Britney chiding us for not seeing "Twilight" the sparkly vampire yet, we skipped hitting the movies.
I got a lot of christmas shopping done, but BHK didn’t have my luck. Despite our having gone to a little computer show, I couldn’t see any really amazing deals.
Spoke briefly with Danny this afternoon while on the road – apparently the new tolkien calendar isn’t so great, just landscapes. I figues we can get him a better calendar than that for the holidays. BHK commented on hobbits in bikinis. It wouldn’t surprise me if there were such a thing.
