BHK and I both hit the doctor today – augmentin for both of us – me, for my chest and ear issues, BHK for her congestion and infection issues. Hopefully, that will knock out what’s been in BHK’s system since new year’s, and mine in the last week or so.

Making the most of our holiday gift cards – breakfast at starbucks courtesy of Dave & Cathy – the chocolate-chip banana bread is *very* good.

After that, we hit safeway to pick up our meds… and gamestop for a used copy of  boom blox bash party (the other game we got – octomania was horrible beyond keeping.)

Threw my back out pretty seriously this morning – this evening, and I’m still recovering from it a bit. I’ve alos decided to get back on the diet wagon, monitoring my intake more carefully again. I can keep weight off only when I’m more observant about my workouts and how much I’m feeding myself.

Got another nice short haircut for my interview on Friday. Just have to trim the beard and print copies of my tightened resume, and I’m set! 

Jay and Sean officially announced that they’re having a second child! We went over this evening to celebrate and do some long overdue chitty-chattin and eating of many cheese and crackers… and watching “will success spoil rock hunter? ”

We went to "kids at the farm" day w/ jay, duncan, sean, and Jay’s sister & nephew.

Jay’s sister is basically Flip Wilson’s Geraldine incarnate. I kid you not, dear journal.

After visiting the baby animals, we swung by the Lusby Mexico – the food there is still great, and the cost is cheap. Thank goodness for buy one/get one coupons! I suspect that Lusby’s cook is a smidgen better than the closer one.

Seen below – security tricycle from last weekend, annapolis police, a plant we’re trying to ID, dolly-doggie, monty-doggie, misc flowers, Maize lawn darts (Indian style!), oyster shells and a spine in a food refuse pile, totem pole head thingie, assorted huts, (a pano interior photo), scarecrows, bunnies, engine of destruction, goats, tiny pony, more bunnies, duck, more horses, activity for being a pig or a sheep, duncan, pelts, tractors and cows.

Never did make it to Surrat house – Instead, we watched My Name is Bruce with Sean and Duncan. Teddy Grahams, hummus and hot dogs w/ kraut for all! Jay missed out, because he was sick at home.

Today was another stay at home day – took a hard walk around the neighborhood, and some chitty-chats with William Callas and Chris.

Visited Coffee Tea and Whimsy, and got some crabber crackers, a keychain giftie for BHK and caramel sauce for all!

Chris won her first-played game of Can’t Stop vs BHK and me, while Larry mowed the yard.

Later, the in-laws came back over for quiche with peas & broccoli from the garden, and we watched some ocean documntaries and ate vanilla ice cream with the aforementioned sauce… and blueberries!

Did I mention that BHK and I went to see Star Trek last Tuesday, dear journal? I seem to have skipped over it. I liked it just fine, thinking it’s #3 on my list of favorite star Trek movies, after #1 (Galaxy Quest) and #2 (Wrath of Khan). BHK enjoyed it, too, probably more than I did! We may be taking William to see UP on Tuesday matinee. (Which I’ve been looking more forward to than Trek, actually!)

Newton demanded equal op art rights for Pye’s pic yesterday.

BHK got a massive collection of books and boardgames from freecycle today – enough for a new game a night for at least a week or three. Most of the books will be passed on to goodwill or mulch-too smoke damaged or not interesting enough to keep- but a few goodies in there.

We went to lunch with Chris at the BBQ place – I think BHK’s assessment of Chris just wanting to go out was right.

Spoke to mom on the phone – Bro getting a DNA test w/Shannon – Odds are good that he’s the dad, but it can’t hurt to be sure. (more sure?)

Jay, Duncan and Sean came over tonight for hot dogs and fixings – Jay and Dunc took off afterward, but Sean hung out to watch "Let the right one in" with BHK and me. I liked it more than BHK did. (I give it a 6/10 or so – BHK didn’t like the pacing, which I thought fit the story)

Sean, Jay and Duncan came over, and brought me 40 mini blueberry muffins! Yum! also, the EEE pc came in the mail! so far, so good.

Didn’t have too much time to play with the new laptop – brought home some work to do on the big machine – got it out of the way before our visitors came by.

We all chitty-chatted until just now, and it’s pretty much time to hit the sack – but first a little supper of spaghetti – Gut is doing better tonight, not going to push it with anything too seasoned or spicy.

No sign of Pris anywhere… I’m confident that she’s back with her folks, happy and warm (or Adam took her in across the road.). We’ll be keeping watch for her pretty closely, anyhow.

Just as well – got cold last night – Mr. Carrot-fish is frozen in his pond. We’re going to bury the carving in our garden as a sacrifice – Perhaps veggies will grow better! (If it works, beware our wicker man next year.)

Caught a bit up on work today – warming up for tomorrow and this week. I guess the Winter Holidays are over, at least until 1/20 (day off for the inauguration).

I seem to be doing a bit better today – still a drop in appetite, but the jaw is feeling less like a stab in the ear-hole with a sharp stick.

Shaun, Jay, and Duncan come over for pasta & broccoli, and we hang out until I need to hit the sack. It’s a school night! We chitty chatted for a long while and Duncan was very gentle with the kitties.

Had a nice night tonight – Shaun came over, though Jay abstained, since Duncan was snoozing so comfortably.

Showed Shaun Fallout 3, and then He, BHK and I did a screening of Hellboy 2 while dining on pizza from a mix. Pizza was yummy – The movie however was not the best – sets and creature designs were nifty, but the story was pretty weak, and resolution was pretty feeble, given that the solution could’ve and should’ve ended in the first 2 minutes of the movie. The Corsican Brothers "ow, you hurt my twins" routine is more than a little played out.

I will confess to liking the "young hellboy" flashbacks, and the acrobatics – though the acting was weaker than the first one. Abe was phoning it in a bit.

Went to the Festival of Trees with BHK, Jay, Shaun, and Duncan – proceeds went to local area hospice – The custom trees were neat – I think the "Cats" one had the most home-made work done to it – customized action figures (barbie and kens?) done with Makeup and hand done costumes.

A quick lunchtime fill-in.

More Flurries this morning – I’ve been having a rough time lately with my back and the cold, but it’s getting a bit better as I go.

Moodwise,  I’ve been feeling pretty down here and there for the last month or so – Stress, back issues, and some poor gut-level stuff. I’m working on feeling better about things – I just have to remind myself that there is a positive destination in sight. I’m glad that BHK and the kitties are on my team, and that my teeth are all fixed.

Some good things ahead – 4-day weekend for Thanksgiving, Christmas is coming, Computer seems to be working well.

BHK and I have made some headway with new friends – The Manspergers and Shaun W. It’s always nice to meet nice people and goof with them. Alice came out of the woodwork, and we spent the day with her at the museum after a spot of lunch at papermoon.

One or two of our other friends have dwindled into the mists recently – Who knows if we’ll get a chance to hang out for the holiday(s) in the next month or so? I haven’t really seen hide nor hair of Tina or Cyn – maybe BHK and I can lure some folks (new or old) up to Gina’s Cantina for some snackies sometime soon.

Speaking of snackies – BHK made some pea soup, with a side of boca burger sammich (replay of yesterday’s foodies)…. good stuff, just right for the weather today. I’d best get on that.

Beard all the way off today! Zip-zip! Not sure when it’ll be back, but I wager it’ll return eventually.

Shots were a little rough – I think Danielle was preoccupied.

A couple of nifty things today –

installed the new power supply and fan for the PC today – seems to be going well – the video chip varies between 133F and 171F, depending on if I’m surfing the web or playing fallout 3 for an extended period. seems a little hot, but the blower cools the guts of the system pretty quickly.

Had a little late lunch, BHK made a wonderful early supper at 4ish with Jay, Shaun, Baby Duncan and the in-laws. – veggie "turkey" roast, stuffed peppers for the carnivores (with ground real turkey) roasted root veggies, pumpkin bread, and mac and cheese – really good stuff!

Chris and Larry brought chick-fil-a nuggets, and homemade baked apples – which were a hit with 1 year old Duncan.

Shaun and Jay brought some spicy deviled eggs – good stuff… I was the slacker, and just arranged crackers, olives, cheese, dip and veggies.

Autumn is hitting us like gangbusters… sweep the back porch off, wait 20 minutes and repeat. I’m not talking about just a few leaves, either – layers inches deep, in some places. The trees won’t have much more to drop next week, if this keeps up.

The colors outside right now are beautiful. lots of oranges, bright reds and yellows. BHK and I are in agreement – we both like the trees that go through a progressive change, all on the same plant. green leave son the bottom, bright yellow in the middle, and darker orange-brown on top.
