Well, back to the smithy to repair my computer again. Woke up on Tuesday to discover that the system was corrupted, and couldn’t be repaired. Thankfully, I have an external hard drive backing up the most vital of items. Now just to set aside the x number of hours to bring it back to the shape and feel from before. Fortunately, lappie will keep me entertained, and I can write a journal entry while I swap disks.

Speaking of smacking things that are broken – they’re blasting next door to my office every few days. It’s pretty entertaining…. every time they go to detonate, there’s a waring horn about 20 minutes prior, then 10, then a manic honking… silence for about a minute and then a building-shaking *KA-THOOM*. I’m a big fan of the *KA-THOOM*.
We haven’t exchanged gifts with our neighbors yet – well, halfway. Mandy drew a picture of our house, and gave it to us at the new year’s party… we still are behind on bringing loot over to them… Schedules, sickness and whatnot on both sides have caused delays.
This past weekend, BHK and SW went with me to the Lego store… I benefitted greatly from that trip – got a Police command center for $20 (usually $45),
A few mystery minifigs – mine were:

- Aviator
- Farmer w/Pig, Dog & Fruit Stand
SW got an aviator, an elf archer, snowboarder, Tribal Chief and some miscellany. BHK picked most of her loot at B&N – notebooks and folders and magnets.
I’ve activated my goodreads account – I’ve added a few friends that I know on there – if I missed someone, hopefully they’ll find me. primarily tracking the books I read on my kindle, but more so the self-challenge of 52 books in a year.

#10820 – Monday the 20th.
Dr. D passed away last week. You’ll be fondly remembered. Thanks for introducing me to Umberto Eco, and not talking to me like a kid.
Tonight when I get home, we should be at the final clip for hanging up ornaments. The in-laws went to visit BHK’s grandparents pre-Christmas last weekend, so we deemed it better for them to rest up.
Tonight’s a lunar eclipse – I won’t be staying up to see it, but should be a nifty show!
Let’s summarize the weekend a bit.
To play catch up with pictures posted earlier – Went with Amy & Wanda to Tuba Christmas @ Our Lady Star of the Sea church in St. Mary’s and then had supper at Laughing Buddha – a lot of fun, and more interactive than I’d have thought. Sunday was otherwise pretty exhausting for both BHK and me.
Saturday – we spotted a snowman by post office, and put some sideways disco balls out on the ground around our house to emulate snowfall. About all we did was listen to holiday music, and then I played a lot of Sam & Max
Friday – Rested at the house… didn’t do much of anything, really.
Finally, The Good Guys was canceled. Boo. I loved that show.

Let’s see… What has been up to since Cheeto (Justin) brought our Christmas tree over?
I got my invite to the private beta for Little big planet 2!
Poor Pyewacket hasn’t been feeling very well lately – he was logy and seems to be working on a great big hairball. BHK is getting some meds for him today – hopefully he’ll be feeling better soon.
I was saddened to hear that Dr. D is now in assisted care – my best thoughts are going to his family.
Saturday was BHK’s crafts / holiday party – just enough people arrived to fill every seat in the house. At the most critical of mass, I went into retreat – hit the man-cave and worked on the computer in there for a bit. Amongst the guests were Amy R., Holly, In-laws, Mandy, Tara and Van (in alphabetical order, no less!) – There was more food than we could eat for a week, and the guests brought food too, despite our best entreaties. I fiddled with Goldeneye: Source and HIS (Heroes in the Sky) – I much preferred the former to the latter.
Amy R. is the newest fan of Swarm of the Snakehead. Totally unrelated – Human Centipede is now availabe for netflix streaming. (I do not think I’ll bother with it, though, unless it’s to distress BHK)
Quite a few passes by “Santa” and his pickup truck… has a lit up Reindeer and Santa dangling from the vehicle… and has been doing orbits around our town more than once or twice.
Van stayed for a bit after closeup – he had never played Catan before, but that didn’t stop him from winning against us handily.
Sunday, we rested up most of the morning, but the in-laws hijacked us to go to Men’s day at Maerten’s Jewelry… I snuck over to Play’n’trade to see what was up – 3 used games for 2 wasn’t a bad deal, but I’m still pretty well stocked for toys on both the wii and the ps3. I did look for family game night, seeing as James had mentioned it, and BHK loves to do boardgames – Catan on the ps3, or anything on Yucata.de is her vibe.
Looking at the archives… looks like Pye and the tree are quite the habit this time of year.

HR Puffinstuff was likely not in HR
Dreamt last night that we were under attack by folks of the Winnebago tribe – they wanted to steal the Love Cube.
Showered while singing “Mr. Custer“.. no doubt a result of the aforementioned dream-stuff.
Last night went by like a blur. Got home, ordered pizza, BHK fell asleep on the couch.. I rudely awakened her, and we went to bedski. I awakened at 5 this morning, and headed off to work – without my wallet. Thankfully, I have tasty leftover dindin from the night before last. Brussels Sprouts, tasty rice and quorn cutlet.
NJR’s last day at work is tomorrow – He’s a good guy – I’d take him out for a drink with the guys if we didn’t have so many things going on. Hopefully he’ll be back when he’s between acting gigs – but for now, he’s off to Naples, FL.
I’m really digging the cooler weather – I can feel Christmas around the corner, and snow somewhen after that. There’s a good vibe walking to work from the metro in a bracing chill, wrapped in a homemade scarf.
Newt and Pye have been enjoying a nice bit of fun now that the leaves are spending more time being whirled about in the wind rather than stuck to branches – Newt had pretty much laid claim to the window ledge behind BHK’s work station upstairs… but now, Pye has taken to queuing up behind Newt for a spot to watch the leafy fallout. Later Newt got his seat back and Pye was on top of him to get another turn….at one point Newt started to fall asleep and look away and Pye gave him a healthy nudge in the head to remind him that someone else was waiting for a turn.

a quick recap – did inventory catch up on saturday, had a moment of net loss at work on sunday from 11-3ish. apparently comcast isn`t the only dc area fail. (at least verizon was a sunday)
sunday dinner was a lot of circles with a few squares inside – cheese and crackers with in-laws, veggie shepherds pie, with homemade apple pie for dessert.
got lunged up a bit last night -cpap helped a lot, though.
slept from about 930pm to 5 this am.
fully enjoying xmas music now… close enough for it to make sense. lego advent calendar has been a lot of fun so far… blacksmith and a knight with assorted anvil and hammer equipment so far.
today should be a busy one… lots to do and review. talk to you later, dear journal!

a week from now, my long weekend in virginia will have come to an end… likely driving back home so I can get to work on time for tuesday. thanks, columbus… or erikson, or whoever first got here to settle in. trans-siberian asians or whatever proto-natives first roamed the banks to see boats coming to greet them.
today went pretty well, dear journal. regular length workday, a little flippin` pizza special and a lot of processes put in place.
mafia ii was fun, but I`m still really caught up in red dead redemption. zombie western coming this month has me quite enthused to continue, too.
brisk day today – rainy and in the 40s-50s.
some kids playing the fool on the other side of the train… not moldy scented today, but the conversations seem louder.
at chinatown now.. major switch from kids to hipsters.
not nearly so crowded today… but l`enfant station is still yet to come.
sleepy…perhaps a travel nap will keep me wakeful for dinner.
