8413 – Happy B-day juliabee and spacshangalangshang!

I thought I’d be missing my dad more than I did yesterday… but I did fine. Thought about him quite a bit, but didn’t get overly misty. I trundled to the beach, and then the Mango Festival for a bit of lunch – it was a pretty soggy Sunday, so I bailed early on the Mango Festival, but I benefited from some lovely chit-chat with BHK instead.

Dan and I will likely hit the movies after work today, barring anything unforseen. I wonder if I’ll be able to keep awake throughout? Monday is usually fairly taxing due to morning meetnigs and midday catch-up.

Rest in Peace, Weaver the Weatherman. I always thought that Bob Weaver was a really great name. A weatherman for over 50 years, he was a very real institution in Florida TV.

graypumpkin mentioned something about chocolate dice sold at his local game store, so I sniffed ’em out. Both in high quality 6d6 (probably best suited for GURPS, and skill test rolling) and the more multicolored 75d6 foil-wrapped dice (More for Champions team of energy-blasts, I’d expect. Gabbed with Tina for about a zillion years on the phone – topics ranged from Shakespeare, Baroque Music, pet stories, furniture, veggie meatballs, lj, stain removal, life at a not-for-profit & work ability, pomade on bedclothes, the terms ballcap and walkies, patient doughnuts, library fines, but NOT Huey Lewis and the News. Some sort of record for random tangents….time compressed to the vanishing point, and it was a lot of fun, making with the jibba-jabba.

Project at the gig is lining up folks to learn about CSI – $100 for four 1-hour sessions with professionals to go to the org’s coffers. Not a bad idea… law enforcement instructors are a easily obtained resource.. I’ll probably sit in on them, if I can go as a rep. I may actually wear my company shirt to a company function… how weird is that?

I have to start thinking about web and local areas to get folks interested. I’m not too crazy about the Broward and Dade LJer communities, due to the large number of twinks… I’ll have to evaluate ’em again.

Nice chitty chat with bhk last night, off and on while I took cases in AR, PA, ND, GA and FL. Most had happy endings and full recoveries. visited qdot briefly in SL, but couldn’t stay long to to the same calls.

Hurricane season in 3 months, and there are still a lot of blue roof, I hope things are gentle this year.

This Memorial Day, please pause to honor the men and women who died so that we might enjoy the gift of freedom. Let us never forget their sacrifice.

At 3:00 p.m., simply stop what you are doing and think for one minute about those who died for your freedom. If you are driving, turn on your vehicle’s headlights.

As you participate in the National Moment of Remembrance, you are helping reclaim Memorial Day for the noble purpose for which it was established:to honor those who died in service to our nation. It is a minute of reflection that everyone can spare.

MP got a little steamed when she saw me talking to Em. Calmed down shortly after, but it was a little sensitive there for a bit.

WHT-EVER tattoo update, it was originally just an “R” on the pinkie finger, for her then husband, but a divorce led her to blot it out. Identified her southern accent – Arkansas.

“I’m really glad that worked… those would’ve been terrible last words!”

New Doctor who 2-parter (eps 9 & 10) were quite good indeed. I like the style of the plague. Maybe too many sexuality issues for a show for kids.

Interesting that they’re maintaining a sort of internal continuity. Next ep looks good, too.

Lost finale was good too. I was really suspecting the HS teacher was a mole that would turn on ’em at the last minute. I guess that’s not likely at this point.
