Peaceful sleep

grassland

I dreamed of being in a caravan travelling a great wilderness trail, down a tree-covered mountain pass. As we continued our descent, the sky opened up again, brisk and autumnal, almost seeming more broad than the horizon could hold…

The plain below, compared to the mountains, seemed level as a lake.

The wind made strokes across it, as if drawing poems in a calligraphy of curves and lines on a vast canvas of green…

No wildlife on the ground was visible at this distance, but I could feel the area was vibrant with activity just beyond the scope of my sight.

And She Was
——————

And she was lying in the grass
And she could hear the highway breathing

And she could see a nearby factory
She’s making sure she is not dreaming
See the lights of a neighbor’s house
Now she’s starting to rise
Take a minute to concentrate
And she opens up her eyes

The world was moving and she was right there with it (and she was)
The world was moving she was floating above it (and she was) and she was

And she was drifting through the backyard
And she was taking off her dress
And she was moving very slowly
Rising up above the earth
Moving into the universe
Drifting this way and that
Not touching ground at all
Up above the yard

CHORUS

She was glad about it… no doubt about it
She isn’t sure where she’s gone
No time to think about what to tell them
No time to think about what she’s done
And she was

And she was looking at herself
And things were looking like a movie
She had a pleasant elevation
She’s moving out in all directions

CHORUS

Joining the world of missing persons (and she was)
Missing enough to feel all right (and she was)

Dreams last night.

For some reason the Jeffersons were the first family. (Not Thomas, the TV couple, George and Weezy.) I worked as a special attache to them, and I dealt with it ok, even though the President kept calling me “Honky Hippie”, and “Jive Turkey”. It was a good job, regardless, because Mrs Jefferson was constantly bringing me homemade cookies and making fun of George. I woke up actually smelling tollhouse. So… who wants to give me a cushy gov’t job with baked goods as a perq?

I hired a bunch of people I know as assistants….my sweetie as webmaster, as the press conference guy. It sort of felt like an episode of spin city. I do remember that I wasn’t obliged to wear a collar and tie, which was quite nice, too.

redoubtable & waspish

waspish (WOS-pish) adjective

1. Like a wasp, in behavior (stinging) or in form (slender build).

2. Easily annoyed; irascible; petulant.

[From wasp, from Middle English waspe, from Old English waesp, from waeps.]

An Internet archive offering snapshots of the web’s past goes live. You can type in a URL and see what the page looked like all the way back to 1996. The archive features five times as much text as the Library of Congress (web.archive.org).

Scary – you can see the evolution (or lack thereof) of my website A neat feature is that you can look at your friends list way off in the past. 🙂 My friends list from long ago… I link to many different people now.

also….

Slowpoke!

Ah! no chunky cough at all… just a plain ol’ regular one. 🙂

Chest rattle is gone, and the nose is staying clear.

Still sweating a bit, but no real fever or chills.

Hooray for better living through chemistry!
