7148 – I’m too sexy for my hat. Whad’ya think about that?

A fine day of Mel-care yesterday… she forgot her flowers over here, but that’s ok… she’ll be seeing them again this afternoon or so.

Dinner with mom on the birthday… and din-din with Dave Thursday… I really hope Mel doesn’t have to work on my b-day after being in the hospital on Friday. I doubt she will.. but if she does… well, I’ll just take it slow and easy.

Sunday leisure bachelor-time with Newt, before Mel came by.

Man, I don’t even begin to understand Lazytown. Vinyl prosthetics / muppets / animation and Icelanders. I like the surreality of it, bu there’s something really wrong there, too. It’s a little overdeveloped as a marketing ploy. The message is good (be healthy, not lazy) but I get a power rangers / Ninja turtle / He-man *we sell lots of things!* vibe. I guess I can’t begrudge ’em trying to make a buck.

My brother… I’m tired of his sickness. It really kills me to see him as damaged as he is, and knowing that there isn’t a damn thing I can do for him. What’s worse is the thought that what happened is self-inflicted. I selfishly want a resolution to his situation for good or bad. I just want his situation in the past. At least My issues with my mom are good again… no drama there!

7147 – The Giant Snail is coming! Stroll for your lives!

Mel is out of the hospital, and is mending at a great rate. Thank goodness… I was getting pretty nervous there for a bit. She’ll be over this afternoon for me to look after her a bit.

MA boo-booed yesterday over switching the phones… fortunately ErN was home and able to launch the first call of the day, while I tended to my laundry.

I’m pretty dang pleased with AVG…. my Norton AV expired a week ago, and I was too cheap to fork over $60 for a new copy. Does what I want it to do, and the footprint is much smaller.

Moment of Lyric –

Peace of mind?
Piece of cake!
Thought control!
You get on board anytime you like

Like sittin’ on pins and needles
Things fall apart, it’s scientific

Gene Kelly Pops & Locks… that’s a pretty amazing reworking of the “Singin’ in the Rain” scene. I’d love to be able to dance like that, but honestly, I’m way too lazy to get to that level (even if my back and legs were functioning at 100%). The only way for it to happen would be more creative CGI work.

Sidebar… I think Gene would make a pretty good version of Eisner’s Spirit.

List of unusual personal names… I didn’t know Kevin Smith named his daughter Harley Quinn.. he’s asking for it.

I am rather fond of the name of composer Johann Gambolputty de von Ausfern Schplendenschlitt Crasscrenbon Freedigger Dingledangledongle Burstein von Knackerthrasher Applebanger Horowitz Ticolensic Granderknotty Spelltinkle Grandlich Grumblemeyer Spelterwasser Kurstlichhimble Eisenbahnwagen Guten Abend Bitte Ein Nürnberger Bratwürstl Gespurt Mit Zwei Macheluber Hundsfut Gumberaber Shonedanker Kalbsfleisch Mittelraucher von Hautkopft of Ulm.

I’m going to put it in my GPS, and take a picture of myself using wireless palm surfing. It’ll be an experiment.

Yesterday, I roamed around town, and couldn’t be bothered to take piccies… I was more engrossed in the walking than even looking where I was going.

1 year ago – Key west, Antarctica dollars, new matter, noting some filter styles for the heck of it.

2 years ago – cool dream, birthday poll, Phrases I use/have passed on, got a jornada (it retired early)

3 years ago – gold star, lego horror, haiku, tattoo poll, Random phone message memory, happy things

4 years ago – fat albert, SOP, Friends list fluke, mocha, QotD

7145 – Saturday morning.. who sleeps in?

Very slow Friday night… not much time spent talking with Mel, or doing much of anything, really. She has been in the hospital for observation.. I’m going in to see her this morning. With any luck she’ll be released. (an X-Ray/MRI this morning will tell if she can go.) Apparently she’s feeling a lot better, her chest has cleared up, and is feeling tougher.

Once I switch my techs over, it’ll probably be out the door with me.

Evil-meter meme

7144 – This week has been nearly burned to the ground.

Mel’s doing a bit better, but she’s got a ways to go before she’s back at functionality…I’d guess she’ll be able to go back to work on Monday. She’s getting pampered here again all weekend. I got to see her briefly last night… long enough to tough base and make mushy sounds to one another, anyhow.

National Flu report – Sakes.. look out, Texas!

Congrats on the baby, applelard! 8 lbs 12.9 oz, and was 20 inches long. He’s going to get a lot bigger with his tall parents!

Speaking of which, MA’s an auntie as of Wednesday night! The way she loves kidlets, I expect he;ll be a happy little guy for many years to come.

I think that RS and ElN are getting a tighter focus on the work gig… I think that they’ll adapt, but a lot of stress/pressure on lately. I suspect that the honeymoon is over for them and JH. ADP is about out of there, I suspect.

Moment of Lyric –

When Renoir spoke of light and dark

He meant the translucent imagery
Of shape and emotion
Patterning themselves into life
When I speak of light and dark
I mean toast (via)

Quick reference to a really good block near me.

Las Olas and Andrews. A really good block
Las Olas and Andrews. Comfy area to roam and linger.

Lots of cool stuff has taken place here. First real smooch with Mel. Hung out with my littler big sis, rode the water bus under the Andrews ave bridge, free movies, the Museum ‘f Art, New River, singing fountain, and on and on. Movie theater is right there on Riverwalk, as is the Tuna Saloona. A nice place to go for walkies… unless it’s really raining.

360 degree view of the plaza., and along the riverwalk

I wonder how true it is that “you are where you live“.

The view from 1000000 km above my house.

Link to a Newt Pic that I adore. I love his fuzzy lil paws.

Hiëronymus Bosch Action FiguresBosch places visionary images in a hostile world full of mysticism, with the conviction that the human being, due to its own stupidity and sinfulness has become prey to the devil himself. He holds a mirror to the world with his cerebral irony and magical symbolism, sparing no one. He aims his mocking arrows equally well at the hypocrisy of the clergy as the extravagance of the nobility and the immorality of the people.

I’ve always liked the Egg-monster.

Lots of different artists... I love Escher’s “Angels and Devils”, too.

7140 – I’m seeing Wednesdays fly on by.

Bzz bzz bzz
Bzz Bzz Bzz… the day, she is a hump, yes?

I heard the word “cut” as “turned” yesterday. As in “I had the phone cut back on, since my dad lent me $20.” Cut on? Is that legit, or does that sound weird… when I hear the “He had his arm cut off in a car accident.” I don’t think “Well, I hope he gets to a doctor fast, and is able to cut it back on!”

In regards to writing: “Like you I feel that the short story is a more perfect form than the novel. I tend to be very descriptive and end up running long for short stories. I’m told that I have an immersive richly styled prose, unfortunately I think I’m more style than substance but hey it works for a lot of folks. You on the other hand are more substantive, I find your observances intriguing and would certainly fork over the bucks to read them.”

That’s high praise from someone I consider to be a fine creative talent. Thanks, GP.

Note to self – Pick up some fresh flowers for Mel after work, or during lunch.

Moment of Lyric –

We’re going down to meet it
I ain’t no student
Feel those vibrations
Of ancient culture
I know a neat excavation
Before I talk I should read a book
But there’s one thing That I do know
There’s a lot of ruins In Mesopotamia

Day Off the Dead – It’s hard enough falling in love when you’re alive, imagine what it’s like in the afterworld. Watch as a dead guy and dead gal fall in love through a series of short, sweet sentimental segments.
