Bear update, from a neighbor approx 2 miles away

“Our black bear is back
Now has learned to pop the safety locks on County trash cans.
Dragged bags over the wall & up the hill to tear into. ”

We will see if I catch sight of one one the nature cams on trash day. I guess I will continue to get up early to take the cans out rather than leaving them out overnight.

Heading off in a little bit to Sunday Social @pacaberryfarm ! It will be nice to see the folks there again, and just be outside and social at a safe distance with folks we haven’t seen in an age.

Looking forward to it, always nice to see crafters and other friendlies.

Doodle does not neccesarily reflect the actual look of Pacaberry Farm, or it’s inhabitants.

Pearl and I helped Mrs Bear assemble her standing desk today. Maybe Pearl will spend more time upstairs, now that Mrs B will be doing her work up there during the week? They both like the sun that comes in that window.

Gentle but productive day today, got up early to feed the Pearl beast and such while Mrs did a morning meeting for work, then got the oil changed in the pilot, picked up a little dunkin’ breakfast with Mrs Bear, snacked on the back deck, took a quick nap, picked up the pilot, grabbed a pizza from Bobby’s Hot and Cheezy, and now doing a bit of laundry folding.

The pizza was pretty darn good, cheese was sharp and the sauce mild. Probably a solid 8 of 10.

Pearl has been extra lovey today, maybe because we both left her at home by herself a couple of hours?

Liked on YouTube: How Did District 9’s VFX Look SO GOOD?

Despite its cripplingly low budget of only 30 million dollars, District 9 was the first film of its kind – Having mind blowing visual effects – which ranged from full CG characters to dynamic weapon effects.

However, with District 9 coming out in 2009 – it meant that the film always existed in the shadow of another major CGI film release that Year: 2009’s Avatar, by James Camereon.

With Avatar being a Goliath success; District 9’s incredible CG and VFX achievements were largely passed over and the film was never given the praise it deserved for changing the way Hollywood approaches its VFX production.

So, with the release of Avatar 2, I thought it was time that we cast a light back on District 9 and explored exactly why this film looks so good, how it did it on such a limited budget, and how it influenced the next decade of VFX.

The Roanoke River beckoned, and with Sisto by my side, I ventured along its tranquil Greenway. The gentle breeze embraced us as we reached the river’s edge, carrying the scents of wildflowers and untamed waters. The sky stretched above, a serene expanse of blue adorned with wisps of cotton-like clouds.

The river flowed with graceful determination, reflecting the vibrant landscape that lined its banks. Mallard ducks and Canada geese accompanied us, gliding through the water’s surface with elegance. Their calls merged with the rustling leaves, forming a harmonious symphony of nature.

As we strolled, nature’s melody embraced us—the rustle of leaves, the birds’ songs, and the gentle lapping of the river. In this realm, time seemed to slow, and we found solace in the present moment. The coexistence of water and land, exemplified by the waterfowl’s dance, reminded us of the delicate balance of life.

With a renewed sense of peace, we bid farewell to this serene sanctuary. The Roanoke River had granted us respite from the world’s chaos, reminding us to find serenity in the simplicity of existence.

Until we meet again, Harold
