Hey all!

I imagine I’ve finally arrived! I got my first rude anonymous post! (two, actually!) I’m amazed it’d taken as long as it had…

On another note, welcome sanssouci and everyone else who has recently linked to me. 🙂

Saw PSycho Beach Party with my little brother today, had a fun time with him, all told. I recommend PSB to anyone.

The scary thing is that we have a girl at work that is a spitting image of Lauren Ambrose. And she loves Dharma and Greg. 🙂 (Lauren and the Greg guy are both in the film.)

this just in. (this is a true-fact… not a scotto-sillie) From Salon.

Oct. 8, 2000 | LOS ANGELES — The actress who played “Fonzie’s” girlfriend on television’s “Happy Days” has admitted she violated probation when she hit her ex-boyfriend with a cane.

Roz Kelly, 58, who played Pinky Tuscadero opposite actor Henry Winkler in the long-running comedy, faces up to two years in prison for the violation, prosecutors said Friday.

Kelly was sentenced to three years probation last year after she pleaded no contest to charges she fired a shotgun at two cars and into a home. She was ordered to undergo psychiatric counseling for what her attorneys said was a bipolar disorder.

She was arrested Aug. 20 after her former boyfriend told police she hit him on the head.

tick-tock, said the clock!

I’m still here. Here, being work, and I, being me.

got the data, and it took longer to fold, spindle and mutilate to my liking, so I’m really just getting started now.

I estimate another two or three hours until completion.

tomorrow and this weekend I will beachwalk and forget my troubles and cares for a while.

Also, will see the new ben stiller movie, and get carter.

well, at least one of ’em.

very much enjoying the perpetual thread thing with ldy. can’t find the pointer, but look in her journal, and pick the thing that doubtless has over 100 posts in it. 🙂

Kat’s like #15 in all of honking Yahoo (approx 100000 players) for playing gin, and she’s still going up the ladder! hoodyhoo!

watching road to wellville on Comedy Central.

Interviewer: Sir, how often should one evacuate one’s bowels?
Dr. John Harvey Kellogg: One should never, ever, interrupt one’s desire to defecate. I have inquired at the Bronx and London Zoos as to the daily bowel evacuations of primates. It is not once, twice, or three times, sir, but four. At the end of an average day, their cages are filled with a veritable mountain of natural health.
Interviewer: And, sex?
Dr. John Harvey Kellogg: Sex is the sewer drain of a healthy body, sir! Any use of the sexual act other than procreation is a waste of vital energy! Wasted seeds are wasted lives!
Interviewer: Uh, eating meat?
Dr. John Harvey Kellogg: “He that killeth the ox is as if he slew a man.” Each juicy morsel of meat is alive, and swarming with the same filth as found in the carcass of a dead rat. Meat eaters, sir, are drowning in a tide of gore. What is a sausage? A sausage is an indigestible balloon of decayed beef, riddled with tuberculosis. Eat and die! For I have seen many a repentant meat glutton his body full of uric acid and remorse, his soul adrift on the raft in the ocean of poisonous slime, sloshin’ against the walls of the body’s kitchen.
Interviewer: Smoking?
Dr. John Harvey Kellogg: The liver is the only thing standing between the smoker and death! Also certain other things have to be avoided… like, uh, feather beds, and romantic novels… and the, uh, touching of one’s organs. Masturbation is the silent killer of the night! The vilest sin of self-pollution! It is the sin of Onan!
Interviewer: Uh, Dr. Kellogg, how did you come to invent the corn flake?
Dr. John Harvey Kellogg: The corn flake, sir, is just one of my 75 creations for heathy livin’, among them peanut butter and the electric blanket.
Interviewer: And what about your imitators? There are 103 other corn flakes presently being manufactured here in Battle Creek!
Dr. John Harvey Kellogg: Sir, corn is the injuns gift to the new world, and the corn flake is my gift to the entire world.
Interviewer: And what do you think about your brother?
Dr. John Harvey Kellogg: My brother, W.K. Kellogg, worked for me as a low-paid assistant for many years. Now he’s off on his own and amassin’ fortunes with my corn flake invention. Unfortunately, he has chosen the family name to promote it. But the whole world knows only one Kellogg: me, Dr. John Harvey Kellogg! Surgeon, inventor, author, and crusader for biological livin’! I do not seek monetary rewards, for I am called to a greater glory. Here at the Battle Creek Sanitarium, the spirits soar, the mind is educated, and the bowels—the bowels are born again!

progress report.

I can cross 1, 5 and 6 off my list. The exorcist was mighty fine. I forgot how good the movie was. had lots of fried stuff for supper, but we didn’t get the cool waitress… there’s one there that knows what we like, and is a real sweetheart. the one tonight seemed harried and not into it. my only complaint about tonights movie was that they seemed to add a few ‘superimposed’ devil things…. totally unneeded, but the beginning was especially good, sort of slow on tv, but sweeping on the big screen.

Tomorrow is Derek-time. What to do? Unknown. Maybe just roam around los olas and get a bite. I have to remember to ask if the first weekend in November is good for the canoe trip up peace river.

Peace River

viewing/reading for the weekend.

Something to match my mood. I’m thinking of something paranormal, creepy to help with the 1930s weirdness game (not all reviews mine… culled from my database of ‘to be watched’)

The Exorcist
One honest-to-God-with-a-capital-G scary movie, and not just because you’ve got grue and gore. It’s scary because it violates your sense of what’s natural. Plus, I respect the ending.

Reservoir Dogs
A movie spilling over with character and dialogue.

Jacob’s Ladder
I said The Exorcist was a scary movie, but even that didn’t freak me out like Jacob’s Ladder. It’s a movie that makes you afraid to be alive.

Dead Ringers
Jeremy Irons plays psychotic twin gynecologists. This movie has no paranormal elements, and it’s gobs weirder than most horror movies. Based on a true story. (Not a date movie.)

Dead Again
– just great.

Angel Heart
Good paranormal detective story, and DeNiro was spot on.

Lord of Illusions
Wow, did they ever misuse Scott Bakula in this one! Still, in its basic precept it’s very close to what’s going on in Unknown Armies. got to be sure to get the director’s cut–not so much for the “aorta-cam” scene but for about thirty seconds when the reactivated cultists butcher their families before going off to see the wizard.

The Killer
John Woo’s masterpiece of violence and melodrama. Again, no paranormal elements, except for Chow Yun-Fat’s unearthly coolness.

Fargo
A brilliant portrait of the kind of stumbling, directionless, short-sighted folks who make up at least 80% of the criminal class (and probably a large section of most other classes as well).

Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart & Lost Highway

The Element of Crime
Director Lars von Trier’s debut feature, this is a beautifully filmed look at madness and murder set within a vaguely post-apocalypse Europe where it is always night and usually raining. An exiled cop is recalled from Egypt — where the desert is devouring Cairo — to Germany, where a psychopath is murdering young girls selling lottery tickets. Following in the footsteps of his mentor, the cop seeks to adopt the mindset of the murderer in order to catch him. Stunning visuals that recall Blade Runner in their power and uniqueness, only using mud and crumbling buildings instead of cyclopic skyscrapers.

The Exorcist III
Having seen the first, you should skip the second and go straight to the third, written and directed by original Exorcist novelist William Peter Blatty from his own novel (Legion). It’s a beautiful piece of work with some amazing imagery and chilling scenes, despite a few letdowns in the climax.

Heat
Writer/director Michael Mann presents a textbook example of solid plotting in this three-hour L.A. crime drama. He moves masterfully between amazing shootouts, tech-talky plans for elaborate heists, credible police procedurals, and harrowing family dramas in a way that every GM should study. It’s like half a season of Hill Street Blues or Homicide in one movie. I’ve watched this flick maybe a half-dozen times now and it’s still an education in effective storytelling.

The Kingdom I & II
Lars von Trier returns with a nine-hour Danish television mini-series released as two feature films abroad. At a prestigous hospital in Copenhagen, a door to the spirit world is opening and all hell is breaking loose. Brilliantly melds a traditional ghost story with Twin Peaks-style bizarro humor and jaw-droppingly scary revelations into a work like nothing else on this globe of earth.

Stalker
From the late Russian filmmaker Andrei Tarkovsky comes this curious mix of science fiction and philosophy. A restricted Zone within the Soviet Union — where a meteor hit years before — contains, at the heart of its abandoned industrial wasteland, a room where your deepest wish comes true. A writer and a professor hire a Stalker to guide them through the Zone to the room at its heart. The Zone proves dangerous, with its own set of rules and traps that function on metaphysical principles rather than physical ones. A dreamlike, haunting film. (sphere tried this, and failed.)

lunch!

watched a 1/2 hour of mst3k for lunch… and now this is stuck in my head… not that I mind.

it was a mike episode, and I didn’t care. 🙂

TOM: Say fellas, there sure is a lotta skin in this movie, i’n’t there?

MIKE: There sure is!

CROW: Yet despite all the acres of flesh in this film, I just can’t come up with a word that describes it.

TOM: Well I can!

MIKE: You can?

TOM: Why sure. [starts singing]

It’s breastakaboobical, chestakamammical,
Pendular globular fun!

MIKE: Fleshical-orbital moundular-scoopular?

TOM: Right-o, that’s the one!

CROW: Is it gluteal maximal, tushital-crackular
Bunular morning ’till night?

TOM: Well, you’re absotiglandular, fanny-fantastical,
Mastokafleshular right!

ALL: It’s an arealogical, autoerotical, toobular boobular joy,
An exposular-regional, batchical-pouchular fun for girl and boy.
A latissimal-dorsical, hung-like-a-horsical, calipyligical ball,

CROW: The most bunular-funular,

MIKE: Fruit-of-the-loomular,

CROW: Frenchical-tongular,

TOM: Wabitaboobular,

MIKE & CROW: [slowly while Tom sings next lines]

Movie of them all!

TOM: Pendular-funular, fruit-of-the-loomular,
Frenchical-tongular, wabitaboobular,
Chestaka-orbital, smorgastiboobular,
Tushita-ticular ball!

GYPSY: Hey guys, how’s the movie?

ALL: [singing again]

Oh, it’s breastakaboobical, chestakamammical,
Pendular globular —

MIKE: Oh, man, we got movie sign!

Longish Day.

Something I’m considering for my icon…. perhaps just for halloween.

I hooked up with my little bro, Cathi & Dave to go see Nurse Betty today. I wasn’t too crazy about it, somehow I was expecting a “Madcap comedic romp through the wacky misadventures of a waitress” or some such stuff. It was a good movie, but not a flavor I was expecting.

Went to see Xmen, and it was pretty cool!

especially for a geek like me… I saw cameos by Jubilee, Shadowcat, Iceman, beast, pyro, and stan lee, not to mention some others. I hope they make a sequel with more & different guys. after the movie I hung out with my pal Robb, and we talked for a few hours at starbucks. got a lot of opinions stated, and talked for a long while about relationships, common friends and just stuff in general. I swear, if he was a girl or I was gay I’d date him in a second. (Well, maybe two. He’s picky. 🙂 ) Anyhow, we discussed our mutual pals getting pregnant, moving and it turns out that he’ll be moving at the end of august too! egads! There goes the whole SPLN gang. no more Alex, Brian, Heather or Robby?!? it would appear that of EMAGE, the oonly remainders will be me and the Hunters… I have to remember to thank Alex H for the CD, it rocks!! a little p-funk makes me a happy boy. (among other things.) I’m amazed that newton can Lie comfortably on my screen…. heat-sucker! pesky swish-tail interferes with my surfin! My Bro is back in town, and he’s mighty flu-y, so we’ll be going out later in the week, but at least I can call him locally on the phone now! Hoody-hoo!

Hoody-hoo!

apparently April did get her job at Barnie’s… even though the manager she was supposed to call wasn’t in, she’s already on the schedule for Tuesday at 2:30! Such a relief… one less weight on ther shoulders, and now we can focus on the next items on the Big list o’ things to be done.

Unsure of the Order.

Get A Bigger Apt, Preferably a Condo.
Get a Car.
Get Driver’s License.
Get Bank Account.
Get Better Job For Scotto.
Get Another Kitty?

And on Scotto’s personal list of hopes & dreams-

Get my friends more integrated.
See some flippin’ movies! There’s a bucket I need to catch up on!

Say, do subject lines not appear when they’re not posted, or are they ‘no subject’ default? I guess We see once this lands in machine. My pal Hunter commented on my pic, and how it reminded him of a criminal in the phantom zone from the superman movies… I wonder where the monchichi looking guy from the 2nd film ended up? Stupid piece of trivia for you guys… Superman (the movie) was written by the same guy who did the Godfather… Mario Puzo. So, high quality by default, eh? Other stupid fact… I went to see, and vividly remember watching the film in 1978, and that was the year that my current girlfriend was born…Aiee… April never got to see King Kong, Superman, Star Wars, or Alien in the theater… even worse, I just realized those are all science fiction films that shaped my tiny little pea brain at the tender age of 8-10ish.
