punkinhead font

Hooray For Sjohn and Cumberland! –

Punkinhead is a dingbat font of Jack-O-Lantern faces, but it’s more
than just dingbats: Go into WordPad (or any comparable program) and set
the paper to portrait, print a single character from this font on
it in the biggest size that fits (often 600ish points) and voila!
You’ve got a Jack-O-Lantern template (or a really cheap, cheesy paper mask).
I doodled these up at Ruta Maya on a writing break, eager to once again
pervert the humble font into doing something unusual.

aww…sweet!

He liked Perl. She liked quilting. To impress her, he wrote some Perl programs to generate all the possible quilt blocks of a certain type, the output of which is shown here. When they got married, she made the program output into a quilt for him as a wedding gift.

sort of reminds me of me and my sweetie. *sigh*

floating off to sweet dreams. see you kids tomorrow, in a beautiful, nappy-time, sweet-rainy day tomorow!

Call me crazy if you like, but I’m about ready for a gigantic, sweeping resurgence of art nouveau decor. I want to live in a world where even the most trivial, everyday utensils are transformed into baroque sculptures of organic decadence interwoven with motifs of jellyfish and scandalously nude, full-figured women. I want more Toulouse-Lautrec prints! I want more Aubrey Beardsley! I want eating utensils sculpted to look like twigs with big slugs and dragonflies crawling all over them! Yeah! Bring on the revolution, baby!

Hmm.

Well, I said you can call me crazy if you like.

G’nite.

Lost Souls

Against the voting public, I went to see lost souls, on the logic that the others will be around longer, and therefore more accessible in the future. I’m glad that we went… it was quite well done, frightening, and well done. Lots of twists and turns, a few plot holes, but a nice scary ride. Also Picked up pumpkins for next weekend’s gourd-carving… now I have a week to decide what sort of face/design to put on Ol’ Jack.

Robb’s is a very cool shape, sort of a “muppet Bert” slightly tapered cone, with a neat haircut-swirly stem on top. Mine’s a more classic rusty-orange, and round. I opted out of picking up two…Also went to best buy, and decided against buying crimson skies or the AOE2 update… I’m doing ok in the games department…. besides, it gives folks stuff to get me for Xmas and B-day. 🙂

Got to shop for the rest of my costume tomorrow, but aside from that, the day is free…
