Social isolation day 1042

The stump acts as a lovely shelter for some sort of critter.

As I step out into the overcast morning, the sky hangs low like a heavy blanket, muffling the world in a soft gray light. The air is thick with moisture, and the trees stand tall and still, as if holding their breath. I set out on my journey, the road before me winding its way down towards the swamp. The earth beneath my feet is spongy, the grasses and ferns brushing against my legs. The faint sound of water lapping at the shoreline grows louder as I approach, and I am enveloped by the wild and primeval beauty of this place. The hike ahead promises to be a test of endurance, but I am eager for the challenge, for the chance to lose myself in the wilderness and commune with nature.

I traverse the mossy path, the sky casting a dreary light on the landscape, my eyes are drawn to the flitting movement at the edge of my vision. Three squirrels, their fur sleek and glossy, dart up and down the mostly leafless trees, their chatter filling the air. The sound of their playful antics is a welcome distraction from the dampness and stillness of the swamp. The walk is not without surprises, as I catch glimpses of two cats through the windows of a nearby home, their eyes following me curiously. The cats, unlike the squirrels, are still, and it feels as though time has stood still for them. The trees that surround me stand tall and bare, their twisted branches reaching skyward as if in supplication. It is a scene of quiet contemplation, and I am grateful for the opportunity to witness it.

* SHAME ON RUSSIA – GET OUT OF UKRAINE!
MAY YOUR GODLESS ARMY DIE SLOWLY, & ROT IN HELL! WE SPIT ON YOU! *

Columbo: CANDIDATE FOR CRIME / Season 1, Episode 3 / / after faking a series of death threats against himself – senatorial candidate Nelson Hayward (Jackie Cooper) murders his own campaign manager.

To throw off the investigation – the candidate stages it to look like the gunman intended to kill the candidate himself, but mistakenly killed his campaign manager instead.

“THEATRE OF THE MIND”. Give your eyes a few hours off, and take it all in, through your ears! πŸ™‚

Produced by Project Wasabi – this audio programme is based on Columbo season 1, episode 3 – “Candidate for Crime”, featuring the voices of Peter Falk, Jackie Cooper and Katey Sagal.

Production Note: At about 26 minutes the programme – the opera RIGOLETTO is heard playing in the dental office. This music is part of the original TV soundtrack, as Columbo & Dr. Perencho are speaking.

The added narration leading up to this scene features the same music, carefully synched, so the music flows smoothly from narration into the TV soundtrack.

Listen to a crime story while working in a different tab! Also good while cleaning house, folding clothes, long drives, or working out at the gym.

My contribution to this audio podcast is the accompanying Narration – writing, recording, editing, & weaving it into the existing TV soundtrack – altogether this project took me 2Β½ months, and I absolutely loved every second of it!

Original episode “Candidate for Crime”, written by Larry Cohen, Irv Pearlberg, Alvin R. Friedman, and Roland Kibbee. Directed by Boris Sagal (real life father of Katey Segal who plays Nelson Hayward’s secretary).

Based on the character “Columbo”, created by Richard Levinson & William Link.
