“There’s no telling what’s going to happen, is there?’

‘No, not even the computers can figure that out yet.'”

From Dark Shadows episode 1073.

Swampwalk quarantine Social distance day 204

My walk was late morning, and the swamp was pretty quiet.

Creature count was minimal. 3 squirrels, a spider, a tiny frog. No songbirds, or larger eagles / buzzards / gulls.

All told, not many birds at all, ground was still a bit wet from last night’s rain. Aside from the occasional snap of twigs or scuttle of squirrel, there was a sense you could hear the sound of the toadstools growing and the faint gurgle of trees digesting sunlight. There are some small hints of brown, gold and orange peeking through the swamp’s green.

The thunderous thudding of my shoes treading through that serenity must have seemed pretty rude in comparison. None of the tiny blue flowers complained, at least not to me.

The plank signboard still has nothing hanging on the eyelets, so I haven’t any idea as to the purpose of that thing yet. I hope it doesn’t turn into a no trespassing signs.

Heard today that mrs company is doing telework measures well into the center of next year. I am both happy that she doesn’t need to commute for a bit, but it also drives home that we have a ways to go before a sense of normalcy will return to our lives, and when it does, expectations and behavior will have changed.

I just caught myself saying “uh oh, SpaghettiOs”, after dropping an ice tray.

Does anyone say that anymore?

Anyone under 20?

Any kids even eat SpaghettiOs these days?

First volunteer pumpkin haul from the yard. They range from softball to handball sized.

There are still about a half dozen or so baby pumpkins out in the “patch”, but this is a sweet start to October.
