Swampwalk quarantine social isolation day 222

Leaves are really starting to show change. For wedding anniversary this weekend (14th!) we are thinking about loading the inlaws into the car and going for a local leaf peep, maybe a few sugar maples will jump us into the autumnal halloween spirit.

Let’s see, critter counts were low, but I did see Panda cat, about a half dozen squirrels, a v formation of maybe 20 geese (not as large as last night’s 32)
Three black vultures, but no sea birds. Where are the osprey and the gulls?

So many spiders today. I would guess that I saw at least 4 varieties, maybe a total of a dozen before I lost count. Mostly the fuzzy little wolf spiders but a couple of weirdos in the mix, too. (See other posts from today)

No neighborhood dogs in the yard either, weirdly quiet.

Saw my first carved Jack-o-lantern on my block, a batman logo at the kettle bell family’s place. I wonder if the eagle is still behind that house, I have not seen or heard from it in a while.

The gas station up the road opened last Monday, after being closed for renovations since last December. I wonder how it is inside, but I don’t think I will break my streak of only being inside two building streak (my home primarily and the inlaws once or twice) and risk catching anything for the sake of a milky way bar and a glance at what they have on offer at the newly set up hot food counter. I wonder how long the renovations would have taken in noncovid times? Even dec-March seems like a long time, but they did literally knock over the building and replace the gas tanks and pumps.

I need to get a picture of the chicken chef sometime on walkabout. Maybe next time I will head to the bay for my morning leg stretch.
