Ralph Shortey, 35, was charged with three felony counts, including engaging in child prostitution, court documents filed in Cleveland County showed. Shortey, who has served since 2010, has not spoken to media about the incident.

According to an arrest affidavit, police found Shortey and a 17-year-old male, who was not named, in a motel room in Moore, south of Oklahoma City, on March 9.

Ralph Shortey co-authored a bill in 2013: “In any prosecution of a person sixteen (16) or seventeen (17) years of age for [prostitution], there shall be a presumption that the actor was coerced into committing such offense by another person in violation of the human trafficking provisions set forth in Section 748 of this title.”
Human trafficking involving minors under 18 carries a minimum sentence of 10 years in prison, as well as a maximum fine of $20,000.”
