Ok, I’ll bite.

People are doing a “10 influential albums of high school” meme right now, so here we go:

For me, the mid to late eighties was a good time, because it was when I bought most of my own music, and discovered a few resources to trade tapes. Note, these weren’t all released just at that time, but when I first put them in my personal rotation.

This is directly off the top of my head, I will try to come back and add reasons, more thoughts later. In no particular order :

  1. They Might Be Giants – Lincoln
  2. The Beatles – Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band
  3. Electric Light Orchestra – Time
  4. The Pixies – Doolittle
  5. Talking Heads – Little Creatures
  6. Weird Al Yankovic – Dare to be stupid
  7. Peter Gabriel – So
  8. Tomita  – The Planets
  9. Soundtrack to Repo Man
  10. Rush – 2112
