Follow-up on the neighbor that was arrested the other day – (via)

Fishing rods taken
A 45-year-old man was charged Monday with stealing fishing rods from a North Beach home and selling them to get drug money, county police said.

A man told police he was walking his dogs in the 700 block of Bay Front Avenue at just before 8 a.m. when he saw a man taking fishing poles from his neighbor’s detached garage. When he asked the man what he was doing, the man told him his name was “Tim” and he knew the homeowner. He said the homeowner had given him permission to borrow six fishing poles, police said.

The neighbor wrote down “Tim’s” license plate number and then called his neighbor, only to learn the neighbor did not know a “Tim” and didn’t give anyone permission to take the fishing rods.

Police traced the license plate number to a black Chevy Equinox truck two miles from Bay Front Avenue in the 3900 block of 2nd Street.

Officers found a man who identified himself as Timothy Nelson Blackwell. Police said Blackwell told them he stole the fishing poles, valued at $300 apiece, and sold them for $100 each. He told officers he used the money to buy crack cocaine, police said.

Blackwell was charged with second- and fourth-degree burglary and theft over $1,000. He is being held at Jennifer Road Detention Center in Parole on $10,000 bond, according to electronic court records.
