8258 – Midweek. suffering from mild time distortion.

Looks like I’m taking a day off from work on April 4… getting inspected for termites, an I don’t want to leave my keep with a snoopy mc snooperson.

Cats over *6* are considered to be seniors? Newtie is still pretty dang fit, thank goodness, and not as overweight as he used to be. I know a lot of 12-year old kitties that are still plenty sprightly, too… I suspect they’re shifting the curve a bit low there.

I like the word shleep for the kind of sleep you get from counting sheep. I could use some nice, solid shleep tonight!

Think of your favorite underrated film, type the name into Google and do an image search. Find the best pic and then post it in your journal, but don’t say what the name of the movie is! Once you post the picture, it’s up to your friends to figure out what the movie is from the pic you posted!

here’s mine: (it’s also my wallpaper on buckyball at the moment – clicking makes giantness)

Condo Commando meeting last night gave me brain drain, but the day at work went well. Busy, but positive. CCM was a lot of old people talking loudly and not listening to each other. Got Kudos at work, as did ECN for fine performance on call, and handling weird situations.

160 gig drive finally showed up, so the big brain drama is officially over. Started Nov. 10, 2005 – Ended March 20, 2006. Rest in peace.

Moment of Lyric (mp3)

I keep on fear, keep on loathing
Nothing brings it on I keep on falling
Decide what it is I can not find
It’s subsides what you make it
Never feel like you’re gonna break it
It’s gonna be all right all right
Sleep until the morning comes
The sun will warm your soul
Sleep until the morning comes for you
‘Til the morning it’s all right
I can walk into the sunlight, into the day, into the day, to the day
I feel it falling, nothing comes to my mind
Bring it on in a different tide
I feel all right, all right
I feel strong, I feel rigid
It’s nothing to do with the vision
Oh feels so right, so right
Sleep on tight, sleep on tight
Sleep until the sunlight
Sleep until sunlight
Sleep on tight
Sleep on tight
Sleep on tight
Sleep on tight, ’til the sunlight
Sleep on tight, ’til the sunlight burns you happy
‘Til the sunlight burns you happy, till the sunlight burns a happy hole in
Your heart,
In your heart
In your heart…

8253 – quick recap

Samuel L Jackson on Ellen on SNAKES ON A PLANE (youtube)

St. Patty’s plans got sacked for me at the last minute, this time, Mom and Wilt just had far too much to handle before launching this morning for parts south. Instead, I opted to go to Bonefish Mac’s, a place run by one of RR’s pals. IT was pretty festive and fun, though it wasn’t terribly Irish…. no green beer, though I did have a couple of Heinekins in green bottles with my grilled cheese and veggie-wich. Met some friendly folk there, and Bethany gave me her digits. (Ulterior motives, though – she needs her computer updated. Still, she’s nice, and fun to talk to, so it’d be good to get a buddy that’s a local.)

Was reminded that I can get tossed into a crew of random-folk and come out of it with a lot of comfortable conversation. That was a big win, and there were no real jerky-types at all… only one downer guy, Robert, a tile-worker / carpenter from Pennsylvania, having trouble finding work. I cave him Wilt’s card for renovations, etc… maybe he’s worth a shot as labor. He’ll have to wait a week for Wilt to return, but aside from that, I think Robert’s chances are good for finding a basic gig.

8248 – Thursday, is it?

Ramma-frazzin’ ding dang gig. I had to bail on the dinner party last night because of last minute tech issues. I felt like a heel cutting out 5 hours before the scheduled time, especially since I was looking so forward to the get-together. There’s another one next Wednesday… I’m going to do everything I can to make it.

The Grampa poll yesterday yielded some very nifty results and replies!

Tonight I go over to RS’s place and set the computer up so Gabe can burn himself some music safely (on top of making sure RS’s machine is up to snuff for the rest of the office’s duties.)

Friday, I’ll see Mom and Wilton off for their trip to Brazil for a week. I’ll be on call again, so they’ll have to swing by my place, but that works… We’ll do Chinese food to ring in St. Patty’s.

LONDON (Reuters) – Bats, whales and dolphins use it to communicate. Baby rodents call their mothers with it and now a rare Chinese frog has shown it can hear and respond to ultrasounds, scientists said on Wednesday. Continue reading 8248 – Thursday, is it?

Oh, gross. Papa John’s pizza newest ad campaign is a reworking of the Go-Go’s… singing “We got the Meat”.

There are far too many ways of misconstruing that.

This is the central scrutinizer…
Joe has just worked himself into an imaginary frenzy during the fade- out of his imaginary song
he begins to feel depressed now.
he knows the end is near.
he realized at last that imaginary guitar notes and imaginary vocals exist only in the imagination of the imaginer
and ultimately, who gives a fuck anyway?
so…so…excuse me…so
who gives a fuck anyway?
so he goes back to his ugly little room and quietly dreams his last imaginary guitar solo

Isaac Hayes quits South Park

“This is 100 percent having to do with his faith of Scientology,” Stone told the Associated Press. “He has no problem – and he’s cashed plenty of checks – with our show making fun of Christians.”

Well, yeah… not to mention Jews, Mormons, Atheists, Rednecks, Santa and who knows what else. Funny how he bailed once they picked on his team.

Spent some time in 2nd Life yesterday.. got to meet big brain’s analogue, bought some dragonfly wings, and had fun visiting kitten and rafe with herm.

Myths and Facts About Sex Offenders

Much has been learned about these behaviors and populations in the past decade and this information is being used to develop more effective criminal justice interventions throughout the country. This document serves to inform citizens, policy makers, and practitioners about sex offenders and their victims, addressing the facts that underlie common assumptions both true and false in this rapidly evolving field.

Some particularly informative ones – Continue reading 8244 – Sexual offender myths

Was dragging a bit yesterday, I practically fell asleep during apheresis. Workplace has been quite hectic, and some storm cloud vibes, as well. I’m hoping it’s just the fund raising aspect, but a lot of showing of tooth and claw recently. RS has the right idea about working from home. (I doubt she’ll ever come back to the office full time, after moving to the home-office idea.)

Mostly played with Newt and chitty-chatted last night… not a bad way to unwind after a long day. Quite nice, actually.

8242 – Walkies on Sunday.

Walkabout on Sunday was good, I got more color, but think I dodged the burn bullet again. The ball cap let my nose still get a little red, however.

I walked to Mizner Park, just to check out the place, and it’s fared for the worse. I used to live behind there, and liked it a lot… but now, there are no bookstores.. (liberties is gone!), the international museum of cartoon art has been gutted, and the two cool wacky-weirdo art stores have been absorbed by other type stuff. bleh.

I’d hoped to go to my old hangout, Beany’s, for a veggie-cheese sammich with the vinaigrette that I love so well… but sadly, it was closed, but just for Sundays.

I abandoned Boca’s blandness, and retreated to the bus stop (I was too bushed to walk for a bit), and rode back to Hillsboro… and then crossed over to the 94 and hit the Deerfield mall. I stopped off for a breather at the movies… caught “The Hills Have Eyes” and was surprised. It was better than I thought. (Make no mistake, it is about mutants killing people trapped in an out-of-the-way location, but it was done well for what it was.) Afterward, I stopped off at EB and picked up a copy of counterstrike:source on sale. I’m looking forward to playing multi with hav and kev once I polish my skills a bit.

Roaming area, (note, some was done by bus. I walked about another 8 miles.)

I made a lot of use of autostitch today, clicking on the pictures makes them larger, as usual.

Pictures from walkabout – I saw unicorns and turtles and dolphins and killer mutants
