6516 bro update, Newt update, train ride piccies, CoD fun.

Call of Duty is pretty keen! I tried out the multi-player, and I’m not quite ready for it yet… the first solo player mission is pretty nifty so far.

I think I’m going to pass on going grocery shopping today, and save it for tomorrow or Tuesday… I have enough to get by fairly well, and was out far too long on Saturday for my liking, though I enjoyed it.

Misc stuff I thought was interesting.

Kev’s giant TV, just for scale, I put the door in there. 50″ is a lot of fun to game on.

West Palm beach Station. Sort of Spanish-style, it’s been there since Henry Flagler.

Closer look at the tower… I just liked the looks of it. I cold see crossbows shooting from the slots, and some poor Rapunzel-wannabe up on the ledge there.

Big ol’ tree, surrounded by pavement and buildings… it’s about three stories high, and I don’t know what or where the root system is looking for food. It was kind of sad to see that someone put a no-trespassing sign right on the trunk…I think it could stand to be climbed and picnicked under.

The train emptied out a lot after we dropped folks at Lake Worth. There was a swap-shop set up at the station , and a zillion people wanted get bargains on old records and somebody else’s bedclothes. I like it a lot better when there’s only a few people aboard.

Cypress Creek station was empty… only one person there, and I guess she was waiting for the Southbound train… (not due for another hour.) Either that, or the person she was meeting didn’t get off to see her. Hm… or maybe she changed her mind about coming aboard at the last minute. that’s the fun thing about people-watching. you can make up whatever stories you like. I figure she was going to study, considering all of the books she had with her.

Deerfield Beach station is older too… it’s got one of those memorial plaques posted, but is considerably more run down than Palm Beach.

It’s Funny to me that the “New” Tri-rail logo looks like some weird 1970’s style with the sans serif font and aquamarine colors. The heavily-barred windows help clarify how safe that area of town is. You can see the girl sitting behind me reflected in the window… we talked briefly when I came aboard and sat down, but I got up to take pictures out the window, so she returned to reading. (The Two Towers, if you’re curious, Dear Journal.)

Shot of the train going at a good clip… I like how you can see the reflected passenger sitting still, while the terrain is a blur.

Boca Raton was dead, too.. Geosyntec building had no cars in it.. I wonder if Danny talks to any of the old crew there at all anymore.

Brother was moved to N Broward, after he requested help for anxiety. He seems to be doing better, a lower population and he’ll get more assistance for drug and/or other issues there. I got off the phone, and he’s pretty upset that he’s still in jail, but he still hasn’t figured out that it’s his own damn fault. I explained to him in a loud voice that he can’t afford to be highly aggressive or tweaked out in jail.. that he’d better keep his cool, or it’ll be that much harder to get anyone to listen to him.

I’m pretty sure that Andy will sell all of my brother’s stuff, and Bro is equally concerned. He’s positive that Andy would be more than happy to take his money, and pawn anything Andy could get a penny for. We have a call into the landlord to call use when he makes an appearance again, but my feelings about the LL’s reliability in that department are not terribly strong. What really needs to happen is to get his truck out of impound. It’s got to be about at $400 or so by now, maybe a lot more. for a $1200 truck, that’s a killer. if it takes too much longer, it might be just as worthwhile to abandon it.

I’m rallying my strength and will pass bro’s message on to Mike and Andy that he wants out, if they can raise the $250 bail. Got his personal papers from them last night, and his wallet sans the $75-100 that was supposedly inside, but they did admit that all of the electronics were my brother’s. The Mother is going to go by there and pick up his clothes and electronics tomorrow evening. I figure that they will bail him out, though I almost prefer that they didn’t. That’ll cement “friendship” in my brother’s eyes, even though it was frickin’ Andy that helped him into that mess to begin with. I’ve told my brother time and time again over the last couple of years that if he continues to hang around with these guys, he’s guaranteed to end up in jail or dead in short order. It’s been hard for me to deal with this… I’m Bro’s only pipeline to the outside world, and I have to be there for him at least until he’s able to communicate with the rest of the world on his own.

I’m going to try to get him set up with a program as an indigent… he’s homeless if he’s not living with Andy or in jail. Hopefully I can transfer him directly into a program.

In much better news, Newt is showing no fever or ill effects from his shots… last year must’ve been a fluke. The vet said if he wasn’t looking good, that I could give him half of a benadryl, which was a surprise… but it’s a non-aspirin alternative (since kitties and aspirin don’t mix at all well.) Fortunately, I haven’t had to rely on that advice yet.
