Homemade herbal remedy nothing to sneeze at
“Victoria Knight-McDowell spent years brewing herbs and swallowing vitamin cocktails to ward off students’ bacteria, but the second-grade teacher couldn’t vanquish one of the world’s most common plagues.”

Dangerous Pills
“WALK DOWN the “natural remedies” aisle of any supermarket or drugstore these days and you will find a battery of products promising amazing things. Enhance memory. Reduce stress. Burn fat. Consumers who believe this hype may have only themselves to blame if, say, their “stress-induced belly fat” doesn’t magically melt away. But these “dietary supplements” may not only be ineffective; some may be dangerous. They can be marketed without any proof of safety, unlike over-the-counter medicines, prescription drugs or food additives such as dyes and preservatives. And if, after they are on the shelves, the products seem to pose health risks, federal authorities are severely limited in how quickly they can move to protect consumers. The manufacturers themselves are under no obligation to track or report health problems.”

MISS CLEO SPEAKS OUT ABOUT FRAUD CHARGES

Police are reluctant to rely on psychics
“They don’t believe in psychics, and they didn’t call any.”

Cannibal heads for movie fame

Three Men Kill Woman, 75 Over Witchcraft Suspicions

Hey, I’m a believer
“I USED to believe that if you were called away while listening to the radio, you could turn it off and, when you switched it back on later, the program would resume at the same point. I also used to think the people who lived across the road were international criminals.”

A Reading Rainbow of Prophesies (but don’t take my word for it)

Fairy tales don’t teach children that monsters exist. Children already know that monsters exist. Fairy tales teach children that monsters can be killed.

My favorite song by the country bears…. (And Tex Ritter) Probably one of the most mortifying and gross tunes to come out of the Disney catalog, however brief.

Blood on the saddle

There was blood on the saddle and blood all around,
and a great big puddle of blood on the ground.

A Cowboy lay in it all covered with gore,
and he never will ride any broncos no more.

Oh, pity the cowboy, all bloody and red,
for the bronco fell on him and bashed in his head.

There was blood on the saddle and blood all around,
and a great big puddle of blood on the ground.

I can’t even think about a rodeo without breaking into that song.

Big Grey Tom in the front of the little complex here seems to be moving on. All of his stuff is being packed up and taken away.

Disputed about 12 posts about the “oil companies that buy foreign oil” hoax.

ldy‘s coming to visit Florida! Huzzah!

LJ is being particularly sticky, making it difficult to reply to entries today. It doesn’t *seem* very robust or fast.

Current Read- Charles G. Finney’s “The Circus of Dr Lao“. Very short…easily consumed. I’ve been meaning to read it for ages after having seen the movie. (When was that? 4th grade? Earlier?) Wacky seeing Tony Randall as such a powerful character… Odd thing is, I seem to recall Randall in an interview stating that it wasn’t one of his fondest films. . I prefer Dr. Lao to Mr. Dark in Something Wicked This Way Comes, though I like Bradbury’s writing style more.

For tarpo, the Rotten Tomatoes review.

Man… 11 already? Until later, dear journal!
