tomorrow is the one year anniversary of our professing love for one another aloud, in words. I’m completely in love with her still… more so.

She’s a wonderful woman, in my thoughts always. She’s made life incredible for me since coming into it 14 months ago, and I can’t thank her enough for that. I look forward to every bit of time I get to spend with her… I look forward to so many more wonderful memories created with my darling like those I have already.

From the painted desert, to my crown of crap, a fairy queen, furby electrokids and brilliant wit, I still find myself catching my breath, thinking of her.

*happy sigh*

(send her healing vibes for me…she’s feeling under the weather lately)

thanks, kottke!

The original commercial for the Legend of Zelda, still one of the best video games of all time. Go Link, go Link, uh, uh, yeah.

Speaking of the Legend of Zelda, Zelda Classic is a Windows/DOS-based replica of the original NES Zelda game with which you can build your own levels and customize existing ones. It’s like Excitebike + Zelda. Hopefully these folks won’t get sued by Nintendo (although I suspect they will).

On a related note, I suspect that there’s a significant market out there for old games that have been augmented. MAME has a huge following and several companies have released older arcade favorites for the newer gaming systems. EA is even doing some new things with the original version of SimCity, allowing people to play online while chatting with other city planners.

With Zelda as an example, Nintendo, borrowing from the feature sets of more recent games, could create a new version of the old game that would work online, allow people to create & trade custom maps, let more than one person play in a world at a time (collaborative puzzle solving), and allow players to change the difficulty of game play (as well as a bunch of other factors). It wouldn’t work for every old game, but I’d wager there are a few games that people would play and pay for.

today’s single card spreads

wheel of fortunethe emperor for my sweetheart-

Wheel Of Fortune — The Wheel of Fortune always indicates a change of fortune. Usually it is a good change because the fact that the Inquirer is consulting you may indicate anxiety or discontent. May also indicate the end of a cycle of problems and the beginning of a positive cycle. Fortune can show wishes coming true, a period of good luck, growth, success, etc. Also indicates the cycles of change, karma and possibly the need for locating the center of tranquility. ( My interpretation fo that is a positive one. 🙂 )

and for myself –

The Emperor — The Emperor may represent a person of authority who is intelligent, experienced, confident and reasonable. It may indicate a primary male influence. The ability to fulfill plans and use mental control over the emotions. (I’m not sure if this applies to me, or some other male… Kevin? Dan? Dave? All rational, confident, reasonable sorts.)

My mind is a swirling miasma of scintillating thoughts and turgid ideas.

Back from walkies…spent more time looking at the flora than the fauna. I did a lap from 14th to 10th and back home… a lighter walk, but I took it slow. I envisioned myself shrunken down to about an inch high, wending my way through the tall grass along the sidewalk. I cleared my mind of many of my thoughts, just a few primary foci remaining. Thinking about the big picture, and I see good things on the road ahead. I’ll be really glad when vacation / holiday season has passed. It seems to make things more difficult than easy, counter to the celebratory vibe it should have. Walking clears the cobs, and nudges my mind to the positive things, like thoughts of my sweetheart’s laugh, or hearing her sing… sure to bring a smile to my face. A hot shower after a long walk is wonderful, too, something about it makes my memories of last night’s dream fade from my mind, spinning down the drain with leftover suds and water. I thought about my dream as I walked, but I can’t for the life of me remember what it was about, now. perhaps it’ll return later, but I don’t think so.

The LOTR game editing gig is going ok, maybe more research than I’d thought…plus, *nobody* uses spellcheck. I’ve had to create a custom dictionary for Tolkien words. The rules system looks ok, but nothing to write home about… better than “chartmaster” old MERP used, though.
