“That boy needs therapy! He’s a nut, as crazy as a coconut! You’re as white as a sheet (and he makes false teeth!)”

Frontier Psychiatrist

Is Dexter ill… today, Mr Kirk, Dexter’s in school,
I’m afraid he’s not, Miss Fishborne,
Dexter’s truancy problem is way out of hand,
The Baltimore County school board have decided to expel
Dexter from the entire public school system,
Oh Mr Kirk, I’m as upset as you to learn of Dexter’s truancy,
But surely, expulsion is not the answer!,
I’m afraid expulsion is the only answer,
It’s the opinion of the entire staff that Dexter is criminally insane

That boy needs therapy, psychosomatic,
That boy needs therapy, purely psychosomatic,
That boy needs therapy,
Lying down on the couch, what does that mean?,
You’re a nut! You’re crazy in the coconut!,
What does that mean? That boy needs therapy,
I’m gonna kill you, that boy needs therapy,
Ranagazoo, let’s have a tune,
Now when I count three,
That… that… that.. boy.. boy needs therapy,
He was white as a sheet, and he makes false teeth

Avalanches above, business continues below,
Did I ever tell you the story about,
Cowboys! M… M.. M.. Midgets and the Indians and… Fron.. Frontier Psychiatrist,
I… I felt strangely hypnotized,
I was in another world, a world of 20,000 girls,
And milk! Rectangles, to an optometrist, the man with the golden eyeball,
And tighten your buttocks, pour juice on your chin,
I promise my girlfriend I’d… the violin

Frontier Psychiatrist… Frontier….

Can you think of anything else that talks, other than a person?,
Uh ohh… uh oh, a bird! Yeah!,
Sometimes a parrot talks,
Ha ha ha… Yes, some birds are funny when they talk,
Can you think of anything else… a record!

In a bold — and necessary — move, the editors of four of the biggest medical journals are taking a stand and demanding the guaranteed scientific independence of researchers who publish drug company-sponsored clinical studies. It’s a tricky realm in which to tread. Big pharmaceuticals have become the largest funder of scientific research, and to lose that source of funding would be a big hit to American biomedical research… that being said, corporate self-interest should not be able to dictate which medications make it onto the market in the U.S., and which are put on the market despite evidence of their failure.

About dang time, says I.

words of the day – warren & militate

militate MIL-ih-tayt, intransitive verb:
To have force or influence.

Militate comes from Latin militatus, past participle of militare, “to serve as a soldier,” from miles, milit-, “a soldier.”

warren WOR-ehn noun:

1. A place where rabbits live or are kept.
2. A building or area that is overcrowded or has a complicated layout.

From Middle English warenne, area for breeding game, from Old French, possibly of Germanic origin.

tonight’s supper tape… I didn’t get much reading done.

“I am mighty! I have a glow you cannot see. I have a heart as big as the moon, as warm as bathwater. We’re superheroes, man! We don’t have time to be charming! The boots of evil were made for walking. We’re watching the big picture, friend. We know the score. We are a public service, not glamour boys! Not captains of industry! Not makers of things! Keep your vulgar moneys. We are a justice sandwich, no toppings necessary! Living rooms of America, do you catch my drift? Do you…dig?”

the tick, red dwarf, batman (adam west), and the twisted tales of Felix the cat.

Did I mention that I love having unmarked tapes lying around? It’s like the Scotto Channel. All stuff I liked enough to record, and promptly forgot about.

This evening’s Fare was (with tasty ramen & sweet peas), with a side of mandrin orange arizona tea –

Batman/Green Hornet Team up.

red dwarf – (Back to Reality: The crew of Red Dwarf discover an abandoned space ship on an ocean bed but suddenly the salvage operation doesn’t sound quite so sexy when they realise all of the occupants of the vessel committed suicide. Attack by a gigantic sea monster makes escape the favorite option. )

twisted tales of felix – star trek spoof, clean the planet… amazing art! (reminds me of blackie. 🙂 )

Tick vs the Aztecs. (the first appearace of Speak!)

A fine evening’s entertainment. mighty fine. I’m sort of happy I’ve been without cable for so long! I discovered I have 735 npcs in my database… more than I’ll ever, ever play. I alphabetized them, numbered them, and will make a nice searchable DB of them over time, just so the gamer community at large can enjoy… my net-book contribution.

I wonder how many folks will play my pcs? I know that miniMAX was picked up by a pbem, as was nexus and green lantern ’67 (greenpeace). The vast majority of the NPC’s are adaptations of comics chars… I think I have 4 or 5 versions of the fantastic four, for example. different capabilities, point levels, or systems. Mostly Champions and GURPS.

speaking of multi-genre gaming…D&D clue? Bilbo, in the orc cavern, with the vorpal blade… I sort of like it.

By the way… welcome back, ! One of my fave LJers back and writing. I’m very happy to see you.

I’m turning in. I’m going to read a bit, and dream of my sweetheart in her purple jammies.

Good Night… follow the trundling Scotto-pod to his preferred habitat… the nightchamber. Pleasant dreams to all you meat people, plasma folk, and fellow pods.
